50 percent of Silent Tactic sold for US$ 1,500,000 in online auction

Victoriam Racing made a major investment to partner with John Oxley on the son of Tacitus, recently third in the Jim Dandy (G2); the Mark Casse-trained colt now sets his sights on the Travers Stakes (G1)

SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York—Just two weeks shy of the defining challenge of his sophomore campaign, Silent Tactic has secured a new ownership partner at a valuation that speaks volumes about his prospects. Victoriam Racingacquired a 50 percent stake in the colt for $1,500,000 in a flash digital auction hosted by Fasig-Tipton, which closed on Friday, August 14.

The transaction places a total valuation of $3,000,000 on the son of Tacitus, whose upcoming targeted start is none other than the Travers Stakes (G1) on August 29 at Saratoga.

The 50 percent share was offered by John Oxley and consigned by bloodstock agent Justin Casse. The colt will remain under the tutelage of Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse.

The decision to bring in a partner gained momentum following Silent Tactic's performance in the Jim Dandy Stakes(G2) on August 1, where he finished third while earning a career-best 96 Beyer Speed Figure. That effort pushed his career earnings past $1,100,000.

Inquiries to purchase the colt poured in from across the globe immediately following the Jim Dandy. However, Oxleyhad no interest in relinquishing total ownership.

"After the Jim Dandy, we had interest from buyers all over the world, but we didn't want to sell the horse outright," explained Justin Casse. "One day while I was on the treadmill, the idea struck me to sell a 50 percent interest online through Fasig-Tipton, and they loved the concept."

The plan quickly came to fruition, with the winning bidder unexpectedly coming from within domestic borders.

"We didn't anticipate a domestic buyer taking the share, but obviously that's how it played out, and it worked exceptionally well," added Casse, who also praised Oxley's progressive mindset. "Credit goes to John Oxley for being such a great sportsman and thinking outside the box to make this happen. Utilizing Fasig-Tipton—with their expertise and proven digital platform—made the process seamless and produced an outstanding result."

For Victoriam Racing, the acquisition provides an immediate entry into one of American racing's premier events while adding a blue-chip prospect to their future stallion portfolio.

Silent Tactic boasts a consistency that easily justifies the marketplace enthusiasm. In seven career starts, he has never finished off the board, assembling a record of two wins, four seconds, and one third.

His signature victory came earlier this season in the Southwest Stakes (G3), flanked by runner-up finishes in the Arkansas Derby (G1), the Rebel Stakes (G2), and the Smarty Jones Stakes (L). As a juvenile, he also finished second in the Grey Stakes (G3).

His solid third in the Jim Dandy against top-tier division leaders gave his connections complete confidence to target the Travers.

"He’s doing as well as he ever has, looks better than ever, and we are extremely excited to see him run in the Travers alongside our new partners," assured Justin Casse.

Pedigree also plays a major role in his valuation. Silent Tactic belongs to the first crop of Tacitus, the multiple G2-winning son of Tapit who captured the Tampa Bay Derby (G2), Wood Memorial Stakes (G2), and Suburban Stakes (G2), while placing in several major G1 events.

His maternal line adds further depth: he is out of Magical Sign, a daughter of Gun Runner, with influential sire Malibu Moon (A.P. Indy) appearing in his extended family tree.

Justin Casse identified his talent long before his stakes exploits. In 2025, he secured the colt for $500,000 from the Thorostock consignment at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training.

Just over a year later, a half-share in that same colt has traded for three times his original purchase price.

Now, the focus shifts back to the track. Silent Tactic will carry co-ownership colors into the starting gate, but the goal remains unchanged. The Travers awaits on August 29, where he will attempt to validate his new $3,000,000 valuation against North America's top 3-year-olds.
