The road to the Triple Crown officially kicks off in earnest on the main track, while the prestigious Campeonato de Oro Verde also gets underway on the lawn

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina— Following the excitement of the Carreras de las Estrellas festival, the Argentine racing calendar moves forward with another high-profile week of action, centered primarily at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo. The downtown cathedral is anchoring its upcoming schedule with a blockbuster Saturday program featuring three group stakes.
The winter classic preps for the upcoming Triple Corona take center stage on the main track, with the seasonal sophomore crop squaring off over 1,400 meters. The fillies will launch their campaigns in the Clásico Manuel J. Güiraldes (G3), while the colts will test their classic credentials in the Clásico Old Man (G3). However, the true sporting highlight of the afternoon will take place on the turf course with the running of the Clásico Chacabuco (G2)over 2,400 meters. Open to horses aged three and up, the staying contest serves as the opening leg of the prestigious Campeonato Palermo de Oro Verde.
An impressive roster of eleven preliminary entrants has been compiled for the marathon turf showcase, spearheaded by triple Grade 1 winner Acento Final (Treasure Beach), alongside proven turf performers Equal Mostaza (Equal Stripes), Full Keynote (Full Mast), and Time to Think (Seahenge). The remaining prospective field features Amuni (Tetaze), Castañón Rim (Remote), Curious Song (Sixties Song), El Estanciero (Fire Slam), Happy Etico (Hi Happy), Jazminero Azul (Lucullan), Out of the Blue (Brz-Drosselmeyer), Ruso Real (In the Dark), and Serengueti (True Cause).
Ten juvenile fillies have been entered for the Clásico Güiraldes, including Achispada (Have At It), Antolina (Remote), Candy Unica (Señor Candy), Fly Cast (Made You Look), Forty's Rim (Remote), Foto Increíble (Gouverneur Morris), Holly (Nicholas), Personal Filly (Dabster), Salema (Il Mercato), and The Great Curt (The Great Day).
Meanwhile, the nominations for the Clásico Old Man feature an intriguing mix of progressive juveniles: Arc Village (Angiolo), Cautivador (Pneumatic), Desert Voice (Dabster), El Gibson (Uncle Chuck), El Volka (Vekoma), Fuego Imponente (Seahenge), Large Dream (Fortify), Los Llanos (Le Blues), Lunfardo (Daddy Long Legs), Mask May (Mask), and Negro de Pergamino (Hi Happy).
Palermo will extend its feature-race calendar into Monday, July 6, highlighted by the Clásico Inés Victorica Roca (G3) at one mile on the dirt for fillies and mares three years old and upward. Ten distaffers remain in contention for the mile test: Class Life (Fortify), Duffy (Il Mercato), Filippiada (Il Mercato), Hidden Vision (Puerto Escondido), International Look (Cosmic Trigger), Mazza Sorda (Gouverneur Morris), Moto Ninja (Hat Ninja), My Pride (Daddy Long Legs), Paxing (Señor Candy), and Reina Secreta (Víctor Security).
Per the usual operational schedule, final declarations will close at noon on Tuesday, with the definitive fields and starting gates announced later that afternoon.
