The first major turf tests for the current crop have recruited fields of just 4 and 6 runners, respectively; Mask May and Full Question emerge as the top contenders

The juvenile selection process moves to the turf this Sunday at San Isidro with the Clásico Raúl y Raúl E. Chevalier (G2) and the Clásico Eliseo Ramírez (G2), both contested over 1400 meters. However, the lack of depth is the main talking point, as the two features combined to draw only 10 participants—a symptom of an overcrowded stakes schedule facing a foal crop that has plummeted to nearly half of what it was 15 years ago.
The Chevalier features a historically low field of just four runners, two of whom are still maidens. Mask May (Mask), a representative of Las Monjitas, is the one to watch following a powerful debut victory where he displayed an impressive turn of foot. He faces Cardo Castilla (Strategos), who finished second to G2 winner Muy Macho Win before breaking his maiden by two lengths over Sam Bushido (Pneumatic), who also lines up here. The field is completed by Recuerdo Pass (Distinctiv Passion).
In the Ramírez, a field of six fillies will vye for top honors. Full Question (Full Mast), a Gran Muñeca homebred, looks to build on a dominant maiden score over this course. She will be tested by the undefeated Gota Clara Sos (Made You Look), who brings a perfect 3-for-3 record from La Plata, including two stakes wins, as she tests a new surface. Also in the mix is Marynda (Master of Hounds), returning to the turf after a narrow defeat to Embozada Rim in the Saturnino J. Unzué (G2), and Risitas Pass (Distinctiv Passion), who comes off a strong runner-up effort in the Clásico Antártida Argentina (L).
