LA FRANCIA, Córdoba (Special for Turf Diario).- Everything is set at Haras Don Florentino for a new edition of the Venta Otoño, where, in partnership with Haras La Valkiria, the Grimaldi family’s operation will offer 2023-born yearlings eligible for the Polla de Potrillos de Curuzú Cuatiá in Corrientes—the richest juvenile race held annually in Argentina’s interior.

Scheduled to begin this Saturday at 2:00 p.m., the sale will feature special benefits for those who participated in the pre-bidding process, as well as the option to pay in 10 fixed installments in pesos via checks. Among the offerings are sons and daughters of Qué Vida Buena (Bernstein), Touareg (Easing Along), Got Talent (Easing Along), and a particularly coveted colt by Vekoma, the Candy Ride son who dazzled on the track and is now one of the most promising young sires in the U.S., having already produced over 70 winners from his first crop, including several stakes horses.

“We’re excited for our tenth Venta Otoño, where we present our earliest and most precocious foals—those eligible for the million-peso race in Curuzú Cuatiá, which we’ve been lucky to win multiple times,” said Luis Grimaldi, one of the leading figures at Don Florentino. “La Valkiria is always by our side, having been the pioneer of selling at this venue. We’re offering a very strong group, with offspring by Qué Vida BuenaTouareg... We’re really optimistic.”

“Among our consignment is a colt by Vekoma, who’s creating a sensation in the U.S. with his first runners. This colt is the result of one of those crazy ventures we often undertake with Freddy Farioli—we bought a few mares in the U.S. and bred them there. We’d always followed Vekoma closely and loved everything about him. When the opportunity came, we didn’t hesitate. Four mares were bred and imported; all delivered colts. It’s a dynamic process that allows us to sell and reinvest. The Vekoma colt we’re offering is a beautiful horse, and the interest from pre-bidders shows how much people appreciate the effort.”

Grimaldi added: “Qué Vida Buena remains a major draw for buyers. While he’s known for passing on speed—which is true—he also has two G1 winners over middle distances. And we have high hopes for what might be our best Touareg crop to date. We miss him dearly after his early loss.”

The Vekoma colt, named Lejano Oeste, was foaled on July 29 and is out of Mariah Girl (Exchange Rate), runner-up in the G2 Eliseo Ramírez at two and herself a daughter of G1 winner Mariah Plus (Alpha Plus), a full sister to fellow G1 winner Mary’s Gold (Mutakddim), dam of Marshall Patrol (Violence).

Among the other standout offerings are:

  • Premiado (Qué Vida Buena), a full brother to G2-placed Qué Presumido;

  • El Santo y Seña (Qué Vida Buena), a genetic replica of Cosa e Mandinga, winner of the Especial Provincias Unidas;

  • and Fiers (Qué Vida Buena), out of a mare who is a half-sister to champion Luthier Blues (Le Blues).

As always, there will be celebration and renewed dreams at Don Florentino this Saturday.
