Il Campione, Haras El Paraíso, Orpen, and Stud Pauli continue to lead the sire, breeder, broodmare sire, and owner standings, respectively, while Need You Tonight remains the nation's top earner

May is traditionally one of the most influential months on the national statistics compiled by the Argentine Stud Book, thanks largely to the Group 1 races contested during the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1) and Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1) race days at Palermo and San Isidro.

This year, however, while the major meetings generated plenty of movement within the rankings, the leaders in each category managed to retain their positions from the tables published at the end of April.

Il Campione (Scat Daddy) remains firmly in command among sires, Haras El Paraíso continues atop the breeders' standings, Orpen (Lure) extends his dominance among broodmare sires, and Stud Pauli retains the lead in the owners' division.

Il Campione is now pursuing what would be his fifth consecutive sires' championship and maintains a comfortable advantage over Fortify (Distorted Humor), leading by Ps. 686,098,579 to Ps. 525,178,932 in progeny earnings. Behind them, Le Blues (Roman Ruler) ranks third as the highest-placed Argentine-based stallion, followed by Treasure Beach (Galileo) and Angiolo (Grand Reward).

The situation among breeders is even more decisive.

Haras El Paraíso has accumulated more than Ps. 1.2 billion in earnings and enjoys a lead of over Ps. 400 million over Haras Firmamento, which reclaimed second place. Haras La Pasión sits third by the narrowest of margins, while Haras Vacación ranks fourth and Haras Gran Muñeca has climbed into fifth.

The closest battle belongs to the broodmare sire category.

Orpen remains in front with progeny earnings of Ps. 696,694,489, but only narrowly ahead of Easing Along (Storm Cat), whose descendants have earned Ps. 677,467,024. The fight for third is equally competitive, with Pure Prize (Storm Cat), Sebi Halo (Southern Halo), and Equal Stripes (Candy Stripes) all closely grouped.

Among owners, Stud Pauli sits atop the standings with 29 victories during the season, despite narrowly missing out on three major stakes wins. Stud Firmamento occupies second place, followed by Stud Rubio B., Stud Tinta Roja, and Stud Santa Inés.

The most significant change occurred in the horses' earnings rankings.

Following his victory in the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1), Need You Tonight (Hat Ninja) surged to the top of the list, overtaking Magnum Fifth (Daniel Boone), hero of the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1). Among the younger generation, Gran Gotera (Made You Look) has climbed to third after her victories in both the Gran Premio Jorge de Atucha (G1) and Gran Premio de Potrancas (G1) during May.

Completing the top five are Herd Immunity (Forge) and Indiana Candy (Señor Candy), both continuing to perform consistently at the highest level.

With the season approaching its midpoint, the standings remain remarkably stable at the top. But with the second half of the year traditionally featuring many of Argentina's richest and most prestigious races, the battle for statistical supremacy is far from settled.
