In a Small Field, the Rosario-Bred Filly Faces Bayonne and Tormenta China in a Straight Dash That Could Prove More Intriguing Than It Looks

Friday’s lively card at Palermo will be rounded out by the Handicap Hyperion, a 1000-meter dash on dirt for fillies and mares four and up. Surprisingly, the race attracted only five runners—a notably small field for a division that usually offers deeper lineups.
Realizada Cat (Hurricane Cat) found the waters too deep last time out in the G1 Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires, finishing tenth, nearly 10 lengths behind fellow Rosario-bred El Mejor Recuerdo (Il Campione). Representing Stud L. y R., she carries a manageable 57 kg here as she aims to bounce back after finishing second in the Clásico General Arenales (G3) and third in the Clásico Olavarría (G3) earlier this year.
Her main rival is Bayonne (Puerto Escondido, 57 kg), who exits a runner-up effort, beaten 4 lengths by Córdoba’s Lissette Island (Lizard Island) in La Plata’s Clásico Caballerizas Argentinas. Previously victorious in the Clásico Diego M. Argüello in mid-May, Bayonne returns to conditions similar to those in which she finished sixth, 3 1/2 lengths behind Beau Breeze (AP Candy) in the Clásico República de Panamá (G3).
Tormenta China (Malenchini, 57 kg) caused a major upset in the Clásico España (L) but then dropped back to allowance company, where she was soundly defeated by Humorada Seattle (Seattle), leaving questions about what version of her will show up this time.
On the rise and carrying just 52 kg, Saya Linda (Legión de Honor) will seek to surprise, while Estadía (Il Campione, 52 kg) also lines up, stepping up in class after a lackluster effort at La Plata.e viene de volar bajo en La Plata y ahora apunta a un nivel bastante más exigente.
