Santillano's daughter, with apprentice Wilfredo Torres Maldonado on her reins, won the Handicap Ante Diem

On her way to 7 years old, Aiyanna (55 kg.) is experiencing a new spring in her performance and this Wednesday, at the Hipódromo de San Isidro, she was once again the talk of the town after a long time.
The daughter of Champion Sprinter Santillano (Easing Along), who back in July 2023, when was trained by Roberto Pellegatta, won the Pennsylvania Handicap in Palermo, prevailed now in the Ante Diem Handicap, contested over 1300 meters in the auxiliary dirt track and with an intelligent management in her reins by the young apprentice Wilfredo Torres Maldonado.
On the legs of Fantastic Woman (In the Dark, 55 1/2) during the first part, and after overcoming a stumble at the turn, the Haras Buen Ojo's mare took advantage of the space that the leader left in the inside part of the track when the stretch came to filter, dominate and, from then on, control that same rival with a good dose of quality.
At the wire, it was a half-length difference between Aiyanna and Fantastic Woman, with favorite Crhys Kissing (South Kissing, 58 1/2) in third 2 1/2 lengths back and 1 length ahead of Opera Garnier (Safety Check, 58), who finished fourth. The time was 1m17s32/100, after firm splits of 23s72/100, 46s76/100 and 1m10s76/100 for the 400m, 800m and 1200m, respectively.
Presented by Elizabeth del Carmen Cedeño Heyden, and bred by Haras La Pasión, Aiyanna got the sixth win of her racing career, out of 30 starts, and the second in a row this season, as she had just won a conditional on the 6th of this month.
Sister of several winners, Aiyanna's dam is G3 placed Arde Troya's (Intérprete) and her grandmother is Masterkova (Candy Stripes), a half sister to the formidable Sa Torreta (Southern Halo), great grandmother of the champion Subsanador (Fortify) and of the record horse Satu (Catcher In the Rye), all in a family imported from the United States by Haras Don Arcángel, of notable success in Argentina.
