The half-sister to Grade 1 winners Mystery Train, American Tattoo, and American Song kicked off her racing career with an interesting display at La Plata

LA PLATA.– It could be said that the Especial Independencia (1500m) was hardly a race at all for American Model, the Rubio B. filly who kicked off her campaign with a highly solid victory, answering her heavy favoritism in the best possible way.
The younger half-sister to G1 winners Mystery Train (Not for Sale), American Tattoo (Not for Sale), and American Song (Stripes Song) made her running without giving or asking for quarter, fighting up front until the straight with Gramma (Il Mercato) before beginning to draw clear from that point onward.
With a steady stride, the slender bay trained by Juan C. Etchechoury (h.) hit the wire clear of any trouble and with 4 lengths to spare over Tiza (Mootasadir), with Gramma finishing third another 4 lengths back, all stopping the clock in 1m33s17/100 over a fast track.
William Pereyra was in charge of guiding the winner, who was bred at Haras La Pasión. She is a daughter of Gouverneur Morris and stands as the latest foal produced to date by the tremendous American Whisper (Quiet American), who is also the dam of stakes winner Fatherstone (Not for Sale) and the two-time G3-placed American Psycho (Bodemeister).
For American Model, the road ahead seems destined for August's Clásico Polla de Potrancas (G2), though likely with a prior stop along the way to gain some vital experience.
