After capturing the Gilberto Lerena (G1) on turf, the dark bay filly from Stud Rodolfo Pedro impressed once again, this time over 2500 meters in the Correas (G2), and is now dreaming of the Copa de Plata

A noble mare, Ceniza Pampa proved on Friday at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo that she can win on dirt just as well as on turf, taking the Ignacio, Ignacio F. e Ignacio Correas (G2), a traditional 2500-meter stamina test for fillies and mares.
A heroine earlier this year in the Gran Premio Gilberto Lerena (G1) over the Palermo turf, the daughter of Hat Ninja (Hat Trick) continues to reward the investment made by her owner Rodolfo Bor, who purchased her in late 2024 to carry the Stud Rodolfo Pedro silks with immediate returns.
In a well-matched field, the bay mare threw all her class on the track to claim a victory that, while not dominant, was clear and deserved over Angelic Champ (Cima de Triomphe).
It was Angelic Champ who took the lead from the jump, setting her own pace. Persofona (Hurricane Cat) followed a couple of lengths back, with Risible (Orpen), Punta Turquesa (Fortify), and the eventual winner racing comfortably behind.
Approaching the far turn, William Pereyra urged the grey filly to maintain her rhythm, but Francisco Leandro and Ceniza Pampa soon loomed large, taking over at the 200-meter pole and pulling away gradually, though needing to work to the wire.
At the finish, Ceniza Pampa held a length and a half advantage over Angelic Champ, who stepped up bravely from the allowance ranks. It was another eight lengths back to Flavie (Seahenge) in third, with a head over Persofona.
The rest were in a different race, with Punta Turquesa fading to finish last, possibly marking her farewell from racing at age six. The final time for the Correas was 2:40.23, with fractions of :26.80, :52.93, 1:18.20, 1:42.62, 2:08.90, and 2:33.54.
Bred privately by Abel Angel Terenziani and foaled at Haras Las Enredaderas, Ceniza Pampa is out of Cute Black Eyes (Wood Be Willing), a winner at three in San Isidro, and a granddaughter of Pedida (Equalize), runner-up in the Clásico General Las Heras (G3).
Her great-granddam is the remembered Pattiserie (Parade Marshal), winner of the Clásico Wilfredo Latham (L), from a strong female family that also produced sprinters such as Mr. Maxi (Mr. I.) and York Deyra (York Shire).
For Ceniza Pampa, it was the fourth win of her career, two at graded level, in addition to multiple placings at each of the three major Argentine tracks, regardless of surface. Her earnings now stand at ARS 75,132,750.
Among the country's staying mares, Ceniza Pampa has established herself as a top contender, heading into the second half of the season with her sights set firmly on the Gran Premio Copa de Plata (G1) in December at San Isidro. Generous and genuine, she always gives her all—and to beat her, rivals will have to run hard indeed.
