LA PLATA.- A compact 10-race card is scheduled for this Sunday at Hipódromo de La Plata, though weather remains a major concern following heavy rains in recent hours—and with more in the forecast, track conditions are in question.

The featured event of the day will be the Clásico Julio Corte (L, 1100m, dirt), a sprint for 3-year-olds and up that has drawn a field of just five, yet offers no shortage of intrigue.

Back in top form after capturing the Clásico Asociación Bonaerense de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3) just over a month ago, Arcanum (Horse Greeley) will look to strengthen his standing among the top provincial sprinters. Trained by José M. Celi, the chestnut colt will face two familiar foes in Le Massif (Le Ken) and Hit Tifón (Hit It a Bomb), who finished second and third respectively behind him that day, 2 1/2 and 4 lengths adrift, though on a much firmer track than the one they may encounter this time.

The lone filly in the lineup, Doña Chila (Peten Itza), takes on the boys hoping to rekindle past success. Representing Stud Pobre Vasco of Tandil, she owns a black-type win in the Clásico Lunasia, and runner-up finishes in both the Clásico Aníbal D. Etchart over San Isidro’s turf and the Clásico Veloces de la Recta Azuleña in Azul.

Rounding out the small field is Influential Boy (Remote), a 5-year-old whose recent form leaves something to be desired, but who will nonetheless take home a check in this short lineup.
