LIMA, Perú (Special for Turf Diario).- The Argentine breeding industry enjoyed another highlight at Monterrico thanks to a commanding performance by Eliitas, who lived up to strong favoritism in Saturday’s Clásico Fiestas Patrias (1200m, dirt), a weight-for-age contest open to all comers.

Bred by Haras Santa Inés and racing for Stud Jet Set, the 7-year-old son of Catcher In The Rye out of Nanga Parbat(Majestic Warrior) secured his 13th win in 24 starts, reaffirming his status as one of the top sprinters on the main Lima oval.

Under a confident ride from Húber Bocanegra and the steady training of Juan Suárez, Eliitas stalked the pace before taking over effortlessly in the stretch to draw clear by 4 1/4 lengths over stablemate and fellow Argentine-bred Super Rafito (Super Saver), with Galileo Galilei (Meal Penalty) a distant third, 13 3/4 lengths behind.

A stakes winner in three separate seasons and a model of consistency, Eliitas has now earned 207,561 soles, building a résumé that positions him as one of the most reliable names among older horses in Peru over short and intermediate trips.

His pedigree continues to shine as well—he’s a half-brother to champions Nanda Dea (Fortify) and Nanabush (Il Campione), both of whom are now in the United States. Nanda Dea is already a stakes winner there, while Nanabush is poised to make her American debut.

It’s worth recalling that Eliitas also traveled to Argentina last season to contest the G1 Gran Premio Joaquín S. de Anchorena at San Isidro, where he faced some of South America’s elite turf milers.

Now seven, Eliitas proved once again that he remains a force to be reckoned with on the Peruvian sprint scene.
