The Whitney S. (G1) winner heads to the sidelines to launch a promising stallion career

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Special for Turf Diario).- Arthur’s Ride, winner of the Whitney S. (G1), has been retired from racing and will be offered as a stallion prospect during the upcoming Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, scheduled to run Nov. 4-11. The son of Tapit will be consigned by Lane’s End, one of the most prestigious operations in the U.S.
Racing in the colors of Glassman Racing—the partnership of Karl and Cathi Glassman—Arthur’s Ride left his mark on the track with a series of high-level performances, recording three triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures. His breakthrough came in 2024, a season in which he fully showcased his ability. He kicked off the year with a powerful 7 1/2-length allowance victory at Gulfstream Park, earning a 101 Beyer and a 107 Equibase Speed Figure.
That was followed by a dazzling 12 3/4-length romp in an allowance optional claimer at Saratoga, where he registered a 111 Beyer and 116 ESF. His crowning moment, however, came soon after in the historic Whitney S. (G1), where he defeated National Treasure (Quality Road)—who would go on to earn an Eclipse Award as Champion Older Dirt Male—and seven other graded stakes winners. The effort was backed by exceptional fractions and produced a 110 Beyer and 112 ESF.
“It’s a very important race. It’s a Grade I and probably one of the two or three most significant races run at Saratoga,” trainer Bill Mott said at the time, underlining the magnitude of the achievement.
Bred by Helen Barbazon, Joseph Barbazon and Tapit Syndicate, Arthur’s Ride is by leading sire Tapit, the prolific producer of G1 winners, out of Points of Grace (Point Given), Canada’s Champion Turf Mare in 2009. His family carries serious depth: he is a half-brother to Canadian Champion 2-Year-Old Filly and G1 winner Victory to Victory (Exchange Rate), and hails from the female line of European G1 winner Favourable Terms (Selkirk).
“Arthur’s Ride gave us tremendous joy, and winning the Whitney was a true honor,” Karl Glassman said. “Now we hope he’ll be given a great opportunity as he begins his next chapter at stud.”
With his imposing physique, elite race record, and top-class pedigree, Arthur’s Ride heads to Keeneland with first-rate credentials and the potential to become a major name among the next generation of American stallions.
