LA PUNTA, San Luis (Special for Turf Diario).- A new racing day unfolded this Sunday at La Punta Racecourse, where Neón Boy and Votemos emerged as the standout performers, capturing the Clásico Copa La Punta Juniors (1000m, dirt) and the Especial Patria (1600m, dirt), respectively.

Restricted to 2-year-olds auctioned at the track last year, the Juniors Cup saw a commanding performance from Neón Boy, a Córdoba-based colt representing Stud Don Lucas of Río Cuarto, trained by Pablo Dotzel and ridden by Jorge C. Gómez.

A son of Cosmic Trigger, the Haras Abolengo-bred runner was always prominent, steadily increasing his lead before drawing off impressively to score by 4 3/4 lengths over Pura Mística (Il Mercato), with Puerto Miami (Puerto Escondido) finishing a distant third, 7 lengths behind the runner-up. The final time was a sharp :56.17.

Neón Boy is out of Niner Spirit (Sunray Spirit), winner of the Clásico The Japan Racing Association (L) at Palermo and a half-sister to the brilliant Codringer (Cosmic Trigger), a nine-time winner at the top level, including stakes such as the Intendente Melchor Posse (L), Lord At War (L), Japón (L), and New Dandy, among others.

Earlier in the day, in the non-blacktype Especial Patria for 3-year-olds and up, Votemos came from the rear with a strong stretch run to prevail by 3/4 of a length over No Lo Soñé (Touareg) in 1:37.67.

Carrying the colors of Stud Esperanza of Bell Ville, the dark bay son of Manipulator and Votsi (A.P. Indy) was piloted by Franco Daniel Bruno Mancuello and is trained by Fabián Montenegro. Bred by Agustín and Nicolás Reale, the veteran campaigner boasts solid experience in official company.

Other winners on the Sunday card at La Punta included 10-year-old La Cisnera (Lion's CircleMagical Cat, by Royal Academy, bred by Carlos R. Vilche), Quiet Señora (Quiet BrazilianSeñora Cometa, by Epopeyan, Haras Los Bayitos), Ya Te Veo (El MoisésVengan a Ver, by Seattle Hoofer, Haras Esece), and El Mau (Holy BossImplosión, by Vision and Verse, Haras El Mallín).
