The son of Il Campione outdueled the favorite Che Vivi in the Especial Sipan Dagh, securing the best victory of his racing career

Always regarded as a high-concept horse, Don Galeón finally achieved a long-sought first victory at the stakes level this Tuesday. Success had eluded him during the first stage of his campaign, when he raced for Stud-Haras San Benito, his breeder, and also under his current colors of Stud Bar Royal, despite multiple attempts and various close finishes.
However, after overcoming a four-month layoff with a promising second-place finish, the son of Il Campione stepped up firmly in the "Eucaliptuses" to claim glory in the Especial Sipan Dagh (1700 m, normal dirt), the other featured race of the day.
Carrying 56 kilos with Martín Montoya in the irons, the trainee of Carlos Santiñaque stretched out in the turn, sparking concern among his connections. Meanwhile, the heavy favorite Che Vivi (Manipulator, 58) was gradually taking the lead after having battled mostly with Mister Coquette (Bodemeister, 54) and Don Chamamé (Long Island Sound, 54).
Once in the stretch, Che Vivi was in front, but Don Galeón began to close ground from the outside, accelerating strongly from the 200-meter mark to the wire to overtake the public choice and defeat him by one length, with Mister Coquettecompleting the trifecta a half-neck back.
The time was 1m44s89/100 for Don Galeón, who, as he approaches 8 years of age, finally got his well-deserved win.
