Carrying the top weights, they meet in the Clásico Carlos A. Zarlengo, Sunday’s feature at Palermo, where the Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1) will be shown as part of the program

Sunday brings action at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, along with the appealing chance to follow live the Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1) from Hipódromo de Monterrico, which will be part of the program.
Beyond the expected support for The Gladiator’s Hat and Thor Medina, Argentina’s representatives in the major continental event, the public will have another 15 races on offer, highlighted by the Handicap Carlos A. Zarlengo, held in honor of the respected trainer who built a brilliant career linked to Stud-Haras La Quebrada.
The race, for mares aged five and up, winners, will be run over 1200 meters on the main dirt track and brings together several solid specialists. Among them, Ataka stands out, set to carry top weight of 60 1/2 kilos.
Despite a poor effort in the Clásico Jamelao (L), where she finished last and well beaten, the daughter of Señor Candyreturns to a surface where she has consistently excelled. Her four handicap victories back up her credentials and place her among the leading contenders.
She will face the ever-consistent Rollanda (60), who will look to string together a third consecutive win at this level, having taken the Especial Guatán at San Isidro and the Handicap Jacinto Rafael Herrera at this venue.
Another name to consider is Legítima Blan (57 1/2), who finished seventh, just two lengths behind Adi Shakti, in the Clásico Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3), and now drops in class in search of a more favorable result.
For those seeking an upset, Princesa Candy (53)—lightly weighted and always dangerous—and Winning Wind (58), backed by the training of Marcelo Sueldo, emerge as interesting alternatives.
A complete program, featuring an international highlight and a local card that offers plenty to follow closely.
