The Cosmic Trigger son will shoulder 60 kilos in this afternoon’s Handicap Mackenzie Society Gathering 2025, to be run over the San Isidro dirt track

Though he will have to shoulder top weight of 60 kilos, Atomic Trigger looms as a strong favorite for Wednesday’s feature at the Hipódromo de San Isidro, the Handicap Mackenzie Society Gathering 2025—the main attraction of an otherwise modest midweek card.
Run over 1800 meters on the auxiliary dirt track, the race is open to older horses, with the Cosmic Trigger son looking to get back to the winner’s circle and reaffirm his excellent current form.
After consecutive victories in the Handicap Potrillazo and Handicap Egg Toss, the chestnut came up just a head short last time when unable to contain the late charge of Southern Secret (Southern Cat) in the Handicap Druid, carrying the same impost he faces today.
A versatile runner, Atomic Trigger can be effective either on or near the pace, and his consistency makes him a logical choice. His main rival appears to be Rumor de Fuego (Daddy Long Legs, 59 kilos), who returns to San Isidro after a layoff dating back to May. The seasoned runner competed only three times this season but showed solid form—finishing second by a length to Señor Importante (Fortify) in the Clásico Alejandro Korn, and earlier romping by eight lengths in the Clásico Comparación (L), both at La Plata. Third to Look Portal (Portal del Alto) in Uruguay’s Clásico Clausura (G2) last season, he has credentials that demand respect.
Sitting a notch below is Valle Barún (Vástago Salvaje, 56), who found the 2500 meters of the Clásico Vicente L. Casares (G3) beyond his reach. Back in September, however, he had run a cracking race when runner-up to Davalos (Hi Happy) in the Clásico Italia (G3), finishing ahead of Billion (Galicado) and Qué Tarde Gris (Il Campione), enough to put him right in the mix here.
Receiving a significant weight advantage, Titanic Blade (Daniel Boone, 53½) could also be dangerous. He finished fourth—3½ lengths behind Atomic Trigger—in the Handicap Druid, and given the weight difference this time, he’s one to keep an eye on.do Handicap Druid, a 3 1/2 cuerpos del candidato, se recomienda tenerlo muy en cuenta.
