Carrying a hefty 60 kilos and setting sharp fractions, he took down the Handicap Mackenzie Society Gathering 2025

Atomic Trigger proved as game and generous as ever, handling every challenge thrown at him to win the Handicap Mackenzie Society Gathering 2025 (1800m, dirt) — Wednesday’s feature at the Hipódromo de San Isidro — in determined, hard-fought style.
The chestnut has been in strong form for some time, and this time he not only had to deal with a capable group of rivals but also shoulder the demanding top weight of 60 kilos. Sent straight to the front, he accomplished the mission with authority, even if the narrow final margin over Valle Barún (Vástago Salvaje, 56) slightly tempered the visual impression.
Carrying that kind of impost is never easy, but the son of Cosmic Trigger handled it admirably under Osvaldo Alderete, who kept him prominent from the break and allowed him to stride along confidently while being shadowed for much of the journey by Amigo Spring (Greenspring, 56).
The pressure forced Atomic Trigger through taxing fractions — :24.39, :46.92, and 1:10.66 — and although he managed to shake free turning for home, it was clear those splits would take their toll late. And so they did: he tired noticeably in the final 200 meters, but class carried him home by half a length, holding off the strong late run of Valle Barún.
Rumor de Fuego (Daddy Long Legs, 59) finished a solid third, four lengths back in a positive comeback effort, with Amigo Spring next and Titanic Blade (Daniel Boone, 53½) never threatening. The final time for the 1800 meters was 1:48.60, with a mile split of 1:35.70.
Bred by Haras Abolengo, owned by Stud To-No-Go, and trained by Elvio Bortulé, Atomic Trigger has now won three of his last four starts, all in handicaps. His career record stands at 7 wins from 24 outings, with earnings approaching 50 million pesos.
Stakes company now seems well within reach for Atomic Trigger — a tough, honest, and consistent performer whose courage and generosity continue to define his rise.
