The Argentine filly notched a valuable win and could now head to California for the Rodeo Drive Stakes (G2), keeping alive the dream of a Breeders’ Cup appearance

NEW KENT, Virginia (Special for Turf Diario).- After a disappointing first outing in the United States, Ignacio Correas (h.) was left frustrated. Observers could tell the trainer had high hopes for the Cosmic Trigger filly, who appeared flat on the Churchill Downs dirt.
Fortunately, with no physical issues apparent, Correas adjusted her campaign, switching her to turf. A third-place effort in her next start indicated that the filly was finding her stride. This Saturday, the Haymarket Farm LLC representative delivered, earning her first North American victory and setting her sights on bigger ambitions.
Ridden by Vincent Cheminaud and asserting herself in the stretch, the chestnut captured the eighth race at Colonial Downs, an allowance event worth $72,000 contested over 1900 meters on turf.
She prevailed by 3 1/4 lengths over Le Touche (Authentic), with favorite Bottle Rocket (Fr-Roman Candle) finishing third by a half-length. Ballado’s Beach (Treasure Beach), another Argentine trained by Correas, came in fourth, 1 1/4 lengths further back—likely her final race. The final time was 1:53.76, just under a second off the course record.
Bred by Haras Juan Antonio and winner of the Clásico Ramón Biaus (G2) at Palermo, Ayra Stark impressed her trainer, who on the Objetivo Breeders’ Cup program last Thursday outlined next steps: “If all goes well, we can aim for the Rodeo Drive Stakes at Santa Anita Park,” he said.
The race, which Correas won two seasons ago with champion Didia (Orpen), will be run over 2000 meters on turf on Saturday, October 4, with a $200,000 purse. Should Ayra Stark succeed there, the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1) at Del Mar could come into view—but everything will be taken step by step.
Ayra Stark delivered brilliantly, meeting the expectations of her connections, and now joins the group of South American runners dreaming of making their mark in California.
The win also marked trainer Correas’ 298th victory in the United States, leaving him just two shy of a milestone he hopes to reach before retiring.
