The dark bay bred by Haras El Ángel de Venecia crowned his perseverance with a decisive stakes victory, drawing off to defeat Loco de Oro by 4 lengths, with favorite El Patio settling for third

Bequepingo (55 kg) wasted no time reaping rewards in his new phase beyond the allowance ranks, scoring a clear-cut victory in Friday’s Handicap Simonside over 1400 meters on the main track at San Isidro.
Now representing the Tucumán-based Stud Los Molestos, the son of Cityscape showed the right blend of talent and timing to capitalize on all favorable factors, including an 8-kilo weight break over comeback runner El Patio (Il Campione, 63 kg), who hadn’t raced in quite some time.
Paraguayan jockey Eduardo Ortega Pavón rode with poise, settling Bequepingo just off the early pace set by El Patio, confident that the combination of top weight and rust would catch up to the favorite.
Turning into the stretch, Bequepingo steadily closed the gap and took command with 300 meters to go, pulling away with authority to score by 4 lengths over Loco de Oro (Exodus, 52.5 kg), who just edged El Patio by a nose for second in a sharp time of 1:21.93.
A homebred from Haras El Ángel de Venecia SRL, whose silks he carried during his previous campaign, Bequepingo is trained by Angel A. Sánchez.
