The colt and the filly took the turns for winners of 1 over the dirt mile

The constant cancellation of races for 3 or 4-year-old winners forces owners and trainers to look for options where they can run their horses. It is either going to the alternative category (CA) or spending months without being in a starting gate, defeated by an outdated programming that the central racetracks refuse to change. Thus, in the CA, finishes often occur between names that belong to the open category, taking away all meaning from the origin of a division where the goal was to give space to more limited specimens. Today, without restrictions, anyone can participate in them, in addition to the exaggerated use made of them by the directors, with much lower prizes involved.
The Wednesday session at San Isidro, which featured 10 of its 13 races within the framework of the CA, had two of those turns reserved for 3-year-olds winners of 1 on the dirt mile, in versions for colts and for fillies. In both cases, names coming from the normal allowance races ended up taking the victory, with a particularity in the race for the girls.
The Premio Look Portal, for males, fell into the hands of Bestial (Lenovo and Samba Bonita, by Catcher In the Rye), who imposed conditions from wire to wire after an excellent effort in La Plata, where he had been fourth to Un Infierno(Dabster) and behind Nassau (Forge), who were protagonists of the selective process there in 2025. Trained by Omar Labanca, and with Gonzalo Borda in his reins, the bay from Stud O.M. clearly defeated Le Maverick (Le Blues), who was later disqualified to third place in favor of Hi Dolfi (Hi Happy), also handled by Labanca and with graded places in the previous calendar.
A while later, in the Premio Endozing, for fillies, the definition was in the hands of My Pride (Daddy Long Legs) and Embrace It (Daddy Long Legs), the former third in the Güiraldes (G3) and fourth in the Campos (G2) in 2025, and the latter third in the Estrellas Juvenile Fillies (G1) and fourth in the Beazley (G2) during her first campaign, returning after failing in the Gran Premio Selección.
The difference was 3/4 of a body in favor of My Pride, whose time of 1m37s32/100 was only slightly slower than that of Bestial, who stopped the clock at 1m37s13/100. The CA was born under a concept totally distorted at present by necessity. It is an issue to be corrected.
