LA PLATA.- It will be a compelling Thursday card at the local racetrack, headlined by the weighty presence of the G2 Clásico Pedro Goenaga, but also supported by a pair of noteworthy events that stand well on their own.

One of them is the Especial Talavera over 1400 meters for horses aged five and up with at least three career wins; the other, the Handicap Haras La Esperanza, will bring together fillies and mares four and older, also requiring a minimum of three victories, over a sharp 1100 meters.

The Talavera could be the right time for Torino Kiin Ha (Señor Candy, 56kg) to bounce back. Trained by Carlos A. Cardón, the chestnut returns to the track where he scored the two biggest wins of his career—in the G3 Clásico Isidoro Aramburu and the G2 Clásico Ciudad de La Plata.

He won’t have it easy, with the likes of Twitch Hurricane (Hurricane Cat, 58kg) in the field. The latter looks to rebound from a recent fifth in the Clásico Blend (L) and return to the form that saw him take the Handicap Practicante in late April.

El Ernesto (Señor Candy, 56kg) appears to be rounding into form, as he showed when finishing second by just half a length behind Sebi Torres (Orpen) in the Especial Sideral.

As for the Handicap Haras La Esperanza, the contest shapes up as a battle among high-quality sprinters, led by Churrullera (Fortify, 57kg), a dual stakes winner at San Isidro in the Tristeza Cat and Vit Reina, and most recently fifth behind Bichita de Luz (Fragotero) in the Clásico Vale Dori, in a slightly below-par performance.

Jugadoraza (Winning Prize, 54.5kg) makes her first trip to La Plata bringing a wealth of experience from Palermo and San Isidro, while Señora Bagaces (Lizard Island, 57kg) continues her upward trajectory, having just captured the Especial Haras El Tala by a length over Funny Polly (Aerosol).
