On March 8th, Bluclette Rim grabbed headlines across all major media outlets after defeating Despacito (Sabayón) in the Clásico Asociación Argentina de Fomento Equino (L) on the San Isidro turf.

However, it has now been revealed that the son of Remote failed his post-race drug test. The Bar Royal color-bearer has been provisionally disqualified pending a final resolution of the case. Néstor Bello, who was responsible for presenting the horse, has also been placed under provisional suspension. As is standard practice for the Jockey Club Argentino, the official report did not specify the substance detected in the Córdoba-based runner.

This is not the only recent stakes result under scrutiny. While the winner was not affected, a positive test was also returned following the Clásico Criadores Argentinos del Sangre Pura de Carrera (L) held on February 24th. Third-place finisher Fantoche Pass (Distinctiv Passion) tested positive for arsenic. Consequently, Javier Alejandro Daluz, the trainer of record, has been suspended for 10 months, while the colt received a one-month ban, making him eligible to return on the 16th of this month.

The official order of finish for that race has been amended to: 1st Chichipío; 2nd El Rayo Pass; 3rd El Brigadier.

Further disciplinary actions were announced at San Isidro for trainers Daniel Américo Pollian, José Luis Morales, and Miguel Angel Cafere. Meanwhile, at La Plata, Roberto Canto was handed a 7-month suspension for a double infraction, Humberto Guillermo Sittner received 3 months, and José María Rebattini was sidelined for 4 months. Additionally, a provisional suspension was issued at the forest circuit for Gustavo J. Madrid following the second-place performance of Bohemio Top (Maipo Top) on March 5th.

While positive tests frequently appear in the Argentinian circuit, they serve as a clear indication that the racetracks are maintaining rigorous controls and that those who violate the regulations will face the consequences.
