The Firmamento colt, always highly regarded, shines in allowance win at San Isidro

Wednesday’s card at Hipódromo de San Isidro didn’t sparkle with brilliance, but it managed to go forward, even if just barely, with modest fields and a reasonable handle of AR$263,263,099. Alongside the featured Handicap Whipper In, a pair of allowance races for 3-year-old winners provided moments of interest.
In the first of these, the Premio Very Rimout (1400 meters, dirt) for colts with one win, the well-regarded Bluclette Rim (Remote - Bouclette Holiday, by Harlan's Holiday) returned to the winner’s circle after stepping down to an alternative category following a disappointing return at La Plata.
Bred and owned by Haras Firmamento and now trained by Adrián Reisenauer, the dark bay had previously shown promise, including a third-place finish in the 2024 Clásico Manuel Anasagasti (L) and efforts in the Montevideo (G1) and Old Man (G3), where he finished fourth. However, after a lackluster showing in the Vilmar Sanguinetti, he was given time off.
Making his second start off the layoff, Bluclette Rim relished the muddy conditions, dictating terms through the stretch and cruising to an easy 6-length victory under Aníbal Cabrera. Polaris E (Semurius) finished second as Bluclette Rim clocked 1:21.81 for the 1400 meters.
The Premio Glory Bomb saw fillies with one win competing over a mile on heavy dirt, where Coni Bella (Marconi - Nabeela, by Asiatic Boy) delivered a gutsy performance for Stud Rodolfo Pedro. Trained by Edgardo P. Martucci and ridden by apprentice Lucas González, the gray filly surged late to snatch victory in a thrilling finish that saw the top four separated by just half a length.
Breaking poorly, Coni Bella trailed early as Bake a Cake (Gold Gulch) set the pace under pressure from Paxing (Señor Candy). In the stretch, Coni Bella rallied wide, inching past Bake a Cake at the wire to secure a hard-fought win in 1:37 flat for the mile.
Finally, 6-year-old Set and Match (Flesh for Fantasy - Salapaia, by Hidden Prize) claimed the Premio Wester Fitz (1200 meters) for multiple winners. Bred by Haras San Francisco de Pilar, the veteran sprinter added another victory to his resume.
