The traditional stakes for debuting fillies and colts will take center stage during Saturday’s northern card

The traditional Clásicos Juan S. Boucau and José B. Zubiaurre will headline Friday’s card at Hipódromo de San Isidro, showcasing a new generation of juvenile fillies and colts making their first starts over 1500 meters on turf. Long seen as a launchpad for top-class prospects—either due to talent or pedigree—both stakes promise an early glimpse at the future.
The Boucau, for fillies, will lead off the black-type doubleheader with a field of 12 set to face the starter. Several have impressed in the mornings, including a pair from Stud-Haras Firmamento. While the powerful outfit sends out two contenders, official jockey Martín Valle has opted to ride The Great Village (The Great Day) over City Tapit(Cityscape), a potentially telling clue for bettors.
Observers have been equally enthusiastic about The Dancing Queen (Mootasadir), a half-sister to El Encinal (Il Campione), who won the 2023 G1 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini. Word is she’s been dazzling in her works and could deliver first-out.
Breaking wide will be Cala Nova (Treasure Beach), another morning eyecatcher, while Sinfonía Latina (Señor Candy), trained by La Providencia, carries stable confidence into her unveiling.
The Zubiaurre, with 14 colts entered, offers even greater intrigue. Firmamento once again looms large with a trio of runners, including Jazz Disfrute (Hi Happy), a son of G3-placed Jazz Day (Harlan’s Holiday) who turned in one of the most impressive gallops leading up to the race. Te Re Adoro (Remote) and Uncle Moi, by the outstanding Uncle Mo, also earned solid reviews and will try to be more than just company for their stablemate.
One of the buzz horses is See You (Fortify), trained by Guillermo Frenkel Santillán, whose final tune-up drew rave reviews.
Also expected to debut in top shape are The Greay Wells (The Great Day), out of champion Kalath Wells (Poliglote), and Gotero Frank (Gidu), both seen as high-upside newcomers.
Rounding out the cast is Unbroken (Seahenge), campaigned by La Providencia and a half-brother to Unico Happy (Hi Happy), winner of both the 2023 G1 Gran Criterium and the latest edition of the G1 Clásico Joaquín V. González.
