The first of two events above the common level offered this Friday at the San Isidro Racetrack will be the Especial El Serrano (1,800m, dirt), a meager tribute to one of the most popular horses of the last decades in Argentina.

Winner of the 1986 Triple Crown, he starred in epic battles against the greatest stars of that era, with Luis Alzamora in the irons, during an unforgettable campaign. For horses 5 years old and up, and with a winner's prize of 5,125,000 pesos(it is fair to say the purse has improved in these types of tests, though the figure still appears small), it will feature only 5 runners, several of whom possess well-recognized talent.

In the starting gates, we find Buen Escocés (Bodemeister, 56kg) who, after a refreshing break, returned in top form this season, reappearing with a conditional victory and then finishing as runner-up to Emergent (Il Campione) in the Handicap Ultrasonido at Palermo, finishing ahead of the multiple stakes winner Super Inter (Super Saver).

The Juan Saldivia trainee will cross paths with a very tough rival in Atomic Trigger (Cosmic Trigger, 62kg), tasked with carrying the highest weight of the field (kilos are assigned by races won, not by handicap). Inactive since mid-December—when he finished fifth in the Handicap Val D'Or—he had previously triumphed in the Potrillazo, the Egg Toss, and the Mackenzie Society Gathering 2025. And if the proof is in the pudding, there is plenty of it there...

The surprise could come from the graded performer Software (Treasure Beach, 60kg), who will attempt to return to his best form.
