The son of Alcindor found his way back to victory after more than a year in the Especial Snow Gambler

LA PLATA.— Of course, every owner’s aspiration is to find a superstar. But if a horse like Cántaros Song appears in the draw, surely no one will be sad. Generous, brave, and a hard worker, the son of Alcindor found his way back to victory this Sunday at the racetrack in this city, taking the Especial Snow Gambler, held over 1000 meters of normal sand.
It had been more than a year since the Stud Candela C representative visited the winner's circle—not since his victory in the Especial Haras Vacación—although, it must be said, since then, with only one exception, he was always in the mix.
With Matías Muñiz in the irons, and regardless of carrying the top weight of 56 kilos, the Carlos Corrales trainee did not have a perfect start, though by the turn he was already running alongside Ridge Prince (Strategic Prince, 54) and The Marksman (Must Go On, 52).
Once in the straight, it didn't take long for Cántaros Song to dominate, maintaining the lead without being able to shake off The Marksman, whom he would eventually defeat by a neck; a further 1 1/2 lengths back, Ridge Prince completed the trifecta, all following an excellent time of 58s79/100.
It was the sixth success in 36 starts for the bay bred by Haras El Alfalfar, whose earnings are now nearing 25,000,000 pesos.
