LA PLATA—The Lollapalooza festival, which kicks off today at the Hipódromo de San Isidro, has disrupted the entire national racing schedule (and caused financial losses as well...), resulting in this Friday’s action taking place at this city’s track.

Only 11 races are scheduled, highlighted by the Clásico Vilas Light, open to 3-year-olds and up over 1400 meters, held in memory of the last Triple Crown winner within the "eucaliptos" circuit back in 1992.

With just 5 confirmed starters, the occasion appears favorable for Campo Verde to consolidate his standing at the distance, following a highly valuable victory in the Clásico Jockey Club Argentino (L), where he defeated El Resero Con Capa (Angiolo) by 3 lengths. The son of Strategos remains undefeated at this track and clearly resolved a difficult duel that afternoon.

While his finish was not extraordinary, it was his first appearance at the trip; thus, the morning work in his preparation under Miguel Cafere is only just beginning. The goal of reaching the mile is now within sight.

Campo Verde will cross paths with a rival possessing as many accolades as physical issues. It is a true shame that a horse of Super Number's caliber can only race so sporadically. In fact, he has been out of action for 612 days, having signed off with a victory in the Clásico 9 de Julio - Día de la Independencia (G3).

Also a winner of the Pedro Goenaga (G2) and Polla de Potrillos (G3) stakes, as well as the Handicap El Serrano, the 6-year-old son of Super Saver attempts another comeback, with the expectation of showing his usual speed and maintaining a positive stretch of health.

Appearing as the third contender is Vampiro Zen (Zensational), the other 3-year-old in the field who, after winning the Clásico Oswaldo Aranha (L), finished fourth in the Clásico Fortunato Novara (G3). Additionally, as the winner of the Clásico Forli and runner-up in the Old Man (G3) at Palermo, he seems to be regaining his best form and could pose a threat to the favorites.
