Can't-miss clash in Palermo's Clásico Irlanda, featuring Le Cornette, Naranccello, and El Fortín

Confirmed entries from standout sprinters set the stage for the week's feature race across Argentine tracks

Sprint action will once again take center stage across the Argentine circuit during the upcoming racing week, highlighted by a can't-miss clash set for Monday, August 17 at Palermo Racecourse, where several of the division's top performers will face off in the Clásico Irlanda (G3-1,000m, dirt).

The event brings the first matchup of 2026 between the 3-year-olds and older horses, with confirmation that the colt Nissos will enter the starting gate. Naturally, it promises to be a steep challenge for the son of Il Mercato, as he set to lock horns with none other than reigning Champion Sprinter Le Cornette (Emmanuel).

Further building anticipation are the entries of the steadily improving Naranccello (Le Blues) and the return to sprinting for El Fortín (Il Campione), winner of the most recent Gran Premio Félix de Alzaga Unzué (G1), who cuts back after a couple of unplaced attempts around further distance.

Camuflaje (Orpen), Claro Bombón (Claro Oscuro), Exclamación Pass (Distinctiv Passion), Martinique (Señor Candy), and Rey de la Calle (Che Micky) complete the lineup of nine declared runners.

The week at Palermo wraps up on Thursday, August 20, when the Handicap Brilliantly (1,600m) for 4-year-old and up fillies and mares was originally scheduled as the main feature. However, with only two horses entered, the race was canceled. As a result, the card will feature 12 condition races.

Over at San Isidro, three programs are on tap, beginning Friday, August 14 with the Clásico Reconquista (L-1,400m, turf) for 4-year-olds and up. The seven starters are Bluclette Rim (Remote, 58), Capital Boss (Holy Boss, 55 1/2), Río New (Hurricane Cat, 58), Stormy River (Le Blues, 54), Talented Hit (Hit It a Bomb, 61), The Great Jazz (The Great Day, 54), and Tiffony Mo (El Moisés, 60).

Action returns to San Isidro Racecourse on Sunday, August 16 with the Clásico Marina Lezcano (1,400m, turf) serving as the main event. Designed for 3-year-old fillies, the race pits Black Win (Winning Prize), Carismática (Strategos), Gota Clara Sos (Made You Look), Justa Promesa (Fortify), Kona Ice (Treasure Beach), La Santa Cándida (Le Blues), and Risk Free (Outstrip).

Finally, on Wednesday, August 19, the Handicap Miss Linda (1,600m, dirt) for 4-year-old and up fillies and mares will feature graded stakes winner Elenika (Winning Prize) returning to action carrying top weight of 59 kilos.
