Candy Fy Wheels Back Quickly in Search of Another Valuable La Plata Score

Candy Fy Eyes Another Notable Score at La Plata / HLP

LA PLATA – The competitive Especial Miss Loren will be the feature race of a thrilling card this Tuesday at El Bosque, where everyone is hoping that nothing interferes with the completion of the day’s events.

With a distance of 1500 meters and open to fillies and mares aged 3 and up with at least three wins, the winner will take home a meager 4,185,000 pesos, prompting questions once again about how the southern racing region is managing its purse fund.

Just nine days after a gutsy victory in the Clásico Jockey Club del Perú, Candy Fy (Fortify) is set to return to the city of the diagonals in pursuit of another win, carrying just 54 kilos.

In her path, the Stud-Haras Vacación filly will face several rivals who could complicate matters, such as Jalimba (Señor Candy, 114 lbs), who has struggled to regain the form she showed at 2 years old, when she finished third in the Unzué(G2) after breaking her maiden by 13 lengths.

For Jalimba, trained by Omar Labanca, it will be her first race in La Plata in over a year and a half, having finished fifth in the Clásico Raúl Aristegui (G2) and second in a maiden event on the track.

Also making the trip from Campo 2 de San Isidro are Catch the Bomb (Hit It a Bomb, 114 lbs) and Clare (Puerto Escondido, 114 lbs). The former won by eight lengths here before being narrowly beaten by a nose by Hi Chasty (Hi Happy) at Palermo, while Clare finished ahead of Candy Fy in a common race late in February.

Illa Alegre (Sabat Husson, 119 lbs) comes into the race in good form, having won 3 of her last 5 starts. She most recently finished second, beaten by seven lengths by Grand Sara Jet (Grand Reward) in a conditional race. Grand Sara Jet will also line up in the Miss Loren, but after that victory, she took a shot against the males in the Especial Río de Oro with no positive result.

Finally, there is Storm Revenge (Storm Mayor, 114 lbs), who, despite some inconsistencies, can be a surprise when she’s on her game.
