The Lizard Island filly proved her class, taking command early and cruising to an effortless victory in the Clásico Marina Lezcano over one mile on the turf at San Isidro. Her front-running display underscored both her speed and composure, marking her as a filly to watch in upcoming stakes action

The strong impressions left by Catys Queen a month ago, when she finished second in the Clásico Bayakoa (L), were perfectly validated this Friday on the turf at San Isidro. Stepping up to a mile, the Lizard Island filly proved unbeatable, living up to her favoritism to take the Clásico Marina Lezcano, run over firm turf as a prep for the Federico de Alvear (G2) and Enrique Acebal (G1).
Her front-running style, combined with a fast surface that favored early speed throughout the afternoon, created a lethal mix for her five rivals. With Juan Pablo Paoloni in the irons, Catys Queen maintained a commanding lead throughout, responding impressively in the stretch when challengers hoped she might tire. She powered home to a three-length victory over Great Fight (Equal Stripes), while the Brazilian Pale Ale (Outstrip) finished third, a half-length further back. The mile was completed in 1:34.83, after fractions of 24.73, 47.91, and 1:11.31.
Bred by Alfredo Luis Martínez and raced by Stud Casi Dos, Catys Queen is trained by Pablo Sahagián, who enjoyed a remarkable afternoon with northern-based runners. She is the first foal from Citys Queen (Cityscape), herself one of only two offspring of the multiple graded winner Paris Queen (Seeking Daylight), tracing back to the renowned Rosa del Sur family.
With this victory, Catys Queen is taking solid steps forward, establishing herself among the leading turf fillies and looking ahead to the most important stage of the season for her division.
