The top filly of 2025 returns to face the latest winner of the Gran Premio Ciudad de Montevideo (G1) in Maroñas,Uruguay

The Palermo de Oro Championship for mares is set for a spectacular start. In a formidable clash, Charm (Strategos)and Martana (Fortify) headline the Clásico Arturo R. y Arturo Bullrich (G2-2000m, dirt) this Saturday at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo. The undisputed best filly of 2025 faces off against the top dirt mare among the adults, both with an eye on May 1st and the Gran Premio Criadores (G1). That future race offers more than just a major victory; it is part of the Challenge Series - Win and You're In, granting the winner a spot in the Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) at Keeneland.
Charm is the epitome of the perfect filly, with a resume boasting victories in the G.P. de Potrancas (G1), Estrellas Juvenile Fillies (G1), and the G.P. Selección (G1), along with runner-up finishes in the Polla de Potrancas (G1) and Eliseo Ramírez (G2).
She will be partnered by Juan Cruz Villagra for the first time, as her regular rider, Martín Valle, will honor his commitments to Martana. For the Triple Alliance star, this race carries a hint of redemption after she was scratched at the gates due to a physical issue prior to the Gran Premio Copa de Plata (G1).
Martana, meanwhile, arrives at the peak of her powers following a dominant gallop to victory in the Gran Premio Ciudad de Montevideo (G1) in Maroñas, Uruguay. Known for her strength and elite ability, if she replicates her January 6th performance, she will be a massive hurdle for Charm to overcome.
While the duel between Charm and Martana steals the spotlight, the other three confirmed runners are no strangers to the headlines:
Portal Maya (Portal del Alto): Winner of the Clásico Apertura (G2) on the Palermo turf, she now returns to the dirt surface she loves.
Cannolina (South Kissing): Made waves in the Clásico Ramón Biaus (G2) by defeating Martana herself, though she failed to reproduce that form in the Copa de Plata.
Herd Immunity (Grand Reward): Expected to set the pace, bolstered by her recent success in the Handicap Lombardo.
