A holiday Monday brings racing at Palermo with a double helping of stakes action over 1200 meters on the dirt

A holiday Monday with racing at Palermo awaits this afternoon. Just 11 races will be run, starting at 3:30 p.m., highlighted by the two divisions of the Handicap Borobeta, contested over 1200 meters on the dirt for winners aged four and up.
The opening division generates the greater expectations, with a field of seven displaying stronger credentials than those in the second heat. It looks a very competitive affair, with Che Mamita (Safety Check, 56kg) hoping for a fast pace to best showcase her late kick.
The chestnut already owns multiple wins at this level and, in early October, finished second—five lengths behind Blessed Shine (Honour Devil)—in the Handicap Star and Stripes over 1400 meters.
Also showing solid form at this level is Ataka (Señor Candy, 58.5kg), who returns carrying dangerous weight and will look to be prominent from the break.
Breaking from the rail, Joy Traviesa (Fortify, 55kg) continues her quest for a first stakes-level win, having come close before, while La Puketa (In the Dark, 55.5kg), A La Vista (Angiolo, 56.5kg) and Look Happy (Hi Happy, 56kg) are not far behind in terms of credentials. Seeking to break sharply, La Plata-based High Rimout (Remote, 57.5kg) changes scenery and can be tough if she doesn’t give away ground.
In the second division of the Borobeta, favoritism falls to Frape (Vástago Salvaje, 57kg), who is in excellent form, as evidenced by her third-place finish behind the classy Causeway Girl (Dabster) in the Handicap Potrizaris over 1400 meters.
Though she finished at the tail of the field, Rollanda (Bodemeister, 56.5kg) was only three-quarters of a length behind Free Prize (Winning Prize) in the Handicap Empeñosa, facing far tougher rivals than those she meets this time. She should not be overlooked.
Ulla Uxia (Un Pionero, 57kg) has upset potential, as does Legítima Blan (Equal Legítimo, 55kg), who has put together a positive recent campaign.
