The daughter of Lizard Island has now taken the Especial República de Paraguay, winning by 3 lengths over Queen's Reward; the favorites offered very little

LA PLATA.— The top contenders were nowhere to be found in the closing stages of the Especial Jockey Club del Paraguay (1,400m, normal dirt), the other event above the standard level featured on Tuesday’s program at this city's racetrack.
However, the Buenos Aires-based City Land made headlines, maintaining her steady form here to confirm her excellent current condition and secure another significant victory, following her win a month and a half ago in the Especial Lux Lucis.
In a more challenging outing, and carrying 56 kilos—one of the highest weights in the field—the daughter of Lizard Island was clinical in the homestretch. She swept past the brave Queen's Reward (Grand Reward, 52) and drew away with authority from the 150-meter mark to the wire, defeating that same rival by 3 lengths. Another 2 1/2 lengths back, La Paltrow (Hurricane Cat, 52) completed the trifecta, with a final time of 1m24s59/100.
In contrast, the favorite Expert Advice (Il Campione, 56) finished last, eased up, while Filippiada (Il Mercato, 52), the second choice in the betting, could only manage fourth.
Defending the silks of Stud Tasejujojo, trained by Walter Suárez and María F. Alvarez, and bred by Haras La Pasión, City Land was guided effectively by Elvio Candia Gutiérrez and now boasts 6 wins from 14 starts.
