A G1 winner in the United States, son of the extraordinary Giant’s Causeway, and earner of over $1.5 million in purses, Classic Causeway is set to arrive at Haras Musa following his stud stint at Crestwood Farm in Kentucky. A high-caliber addition that promises to make a major impact on South American breeding

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (Special for Turf Diario).— The arrival of Classic Causeway at Haras Musa represents one of the most significant developments in recent memory for Uruguayan breeding. It is not every day that a stallion possessing such a rare blend of pedigree, racetrack performance, precocity, and versatility lands in South America—attributes that make the son of Giant’s Causeway an addition of immense value to the entire region.

Having stood until now at Crestwood Farm in Kentucky, Classic Causeway arrives in Uruguay backed by credentials that inspire immense optimism. A G1 winner in the United States, he accumulated over $1.5 million in earnings while securing 4 victories from 24 starts, competing from age 2 against the very best of his generation.

His debut on the racetrack was nothing short of sensational. He broke his maiden wire-to-wire over 1400 meters on the dirt at Saratoga, stopping the clock in 1m22s67/100, and immediately validated his class by finishing third in the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at Keeneland in just his second start. He concluded his juvenile campaign as the runner-up in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs.

At 3, he emerged as a primary player on the American Triple Crown trail. He first captured the Sam F. Davis Stakes(G3) before following up with a dominant victory in the Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby (G2), both contested over 1700 meters on the main track at Tampa Bay Downs, displaying formidable early speed and the stamina to carry it over route distances.

After contesting the Florida Derby (G1) and the Kentucky Derby (G1), his ultimate crowning moment arrived with a switch in surface. In his turf debut, he captured the Caesars Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (G1) over 2000 meters, defeating none other than Nations Pride (Teofilo), who would go on to become a multi-time international G1winner.

That dual-surface versatility on both dirt and turf stands as one of his greatest assets as a stallion prospect. He also placed third in the Saratoga Derby Invitational (G1), the Jockey Club Derby Invitational (G3), and the Ohio Derby(G3), in addition to finishing second in both the Essex Handicap (G3) and the Temperence Hill Stakes (L).

From a pedigree standpoint, his arrival carries even greater significance. His sire, Giant’s Causeway, was one of the defining stallions of recent decades and built an incredible legacy as a sire of sires—highlighted by Not This Time, currently one of the premier stalwarts of American breeding.

The Giant's Causeway branch maintains tremendous relevance in Europe as well, particularly through Shamardal and his son Lope de Vega, while Blue Point, another descendant of Shamardal, continues to establish himself as a dominant force among young European stallions.

Classic Causeway also brings an intriguing maternal line: his dam, Private World, is a daughter of Thunder Gulchwho won two listed stakes at 2 in California.

For Uruguay, securing a horse of this caliber significantly broadens its genetic options with proven, top-tier international bloodlines. Haras Musa adds a stallion with undeniable racing credentials and pedigree depth—one capable of attracting strong interest well beyond Uruguayan borders.

It is a top-level stallion addition destined to leave a lasting impact on the future of regional breeding.
