Performances like the one he delivered this Sunday in the Clásico Invasor (G3, 1400m) are precisely what made Colifato Novo famous—and ultimately crowned him champion. He was the undisputed star of the season-ending card at Hipódromo de San Isidro.

Regardless of wins or losses, it had been more than a year since the son of Lenovo had produced such a captivating effort. Back on the northern diagonal turf, he found the ideal stage to polish the shine of his undeniable talent.

The champion juvenile of his generation—winner of the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile (G1) and the 2000 Guineas(G1)—the bay from Stud El Ranquel was back. Back to his best. Back to inspire. He dominated from gate to wire, dismissing a field of accomplished rivals that included El Gazpacho (Bodemeister) and The Outsider (Roman Joy), the pair who had relegated him to third just weeks earlier in the Clásico Urbano de Iriondo (L).

Well-backed as the public’s choice, Colifato Novo was electric throughout—springing from the gates like a shot and carving out blistering fractions of :23.63, :45.06, and 1:06.93, flirting with the track record for the trip.

There was never any real sense that the outcome was in doubt. Prepared by Joaquín Cano, the bay straightened with his head high and stride strong, finishing powerfully to hit the wire seven lengths clear in a sparkling 1:19.70, scarcely asked for maximum effort by jockey Iván Monasterolo.

Three-year-old Majority Wins, making his stakes debut, ran a huge race to finish second—surrendering his unbeaten record but promising plenty more. A further 1 1/2 lengths back, Beauty Sea (Seahenge) completed the trifecta, another encouraging step forward in his road back.

Privately bred by Maximiliano Marcelo Conti, Colifato Novo returned as the most prized version of himself after a long wait. Few horses command attention like he does: he won, he thrilled, and now—more than ever—he signals a return to the elite ranks of top-class middle-distance turf racing.
