Colour Visión made her courage felt: carrying 60 kilos was no match for her heart

The son of Univisión dominated from wire to wire in the Especial Rey del Bosque at La Plata, holding off a fierce challenge from favorite Bienhechor to return to victory lane—a triumph defined by pure grit and heart

LA PLATA.— Carrying 60 kilos on his back seemed like an open invitation for his rivals to break him. But Colour Visión had other plans. In a display of pure grit and stamina, the son of Univisión captured the Especial Rey del Bosque, Tuesday's feature event at Hipódromo de La Plata, returning to winner's circle following his unplaced effort in the Handicap Mangangá at Palermo. He didn't have much to spare at the wire, but he had heart to spare.
The race was far from simple, even though he managed to do what he loves most: break on top and set the tempo.Hugging the rail under jockey Elías Martínez, Colour Visión was forced to absorb pressure from Fancy Model(Lizard Island, 58kg), who tracked him closely, pressing without respite and nearly ranging up alongside entering the final turn. Lugging 60 kilos, that early exertion could easily have exacted a heavy toll.
However, as they straightened into the lane, the leader found another gear. Finding his footing along the inner fence, he extended his margin to a length and appeared to have put Fancy Model away. Yet the toughest test was still to come.Just as his early challenger began to tire, the heavily favored Bienhechor (Hurricane Cat, 56kg) launched his bid, looking to capitalize on the pacemaker's early exertion.
The challenger changed, but Colour Visión's determination remained unaltered. Bienhechor closed with purpose and forced him to dig into his deepest reserves. Martínez, who never lost confidence in his mount, kept him focused in the battle as the son of Univisión responded to every surge from his opponent. Refusing to yield, he preserved a half-length margin at the wire, sealing a victory defined far more by courage than any other attribute.
Fancy Model, who was a key player in the early duel, held on for third another four lengths back, while Dom Moore(Storm Embrujado, 54kg) crossed the line fourth, two and a half lengths further behind. Don Chamamé (Long Island Sound, 56kg) trailed the field, finishing at a distance. The clock stopped at 1:25 for the 1,400 meters on a fast dirt track.
The result marked a triumphant return to the oval where Colour Visión feels most at home. Prior to his setback in the Handicap Mangangá, he had claimed victory at La Plata in the Especial Libreo over the mile, defeating no less than Escape Room (Il Campione). That win had confirmed his ability to deliver in demanding spots; this latest triumph added extra luster given the top weight assignment.
With this victory, Colour Visión improved his career record to eight wins from 28 starts, five of them coming in stakes company. His previous stakes credentials include triumphs in the Especial Cafrune, Especial Jockey Club de Mendoza, and the Handicap Hipódromo Argentino at Palermo.
This time, however, statistics took a back seat. The Rey del Bosque had a winner who set out to dictate terms from the break, turned back two distinct challenges, and refused to let anyone snatch away what he had built from the gate.Colour Visión carried 60 kilos, but he ran as if the weight of the assignment didn't exist. And he won, above all, through sheer toughness.
