The Southern Halo granddaughter confirmed her progress, defeating Llamame a la Tarde by two lengths and showcasing the speed and grit to dream big

LA PLATA.- Starry Bomb took full advantage of the unsustainable early pace to capture the Clásico Wilfredo Latham (L, 1100m, dirt), a key step in the development of sprinting three-year-old fillies competing at El Bosque.
Coming off an easy win in a conditional race, the Omar Labanca trainee was expertly handled by Lautaro Balmaceda, who never forced the daughter of Hit It a Bomb as the leaders flew to the front, and who found clear running along the stretch for a decisive late surge.
Indeed, Castaña Pass (Distinctiv Passion), Infancia Feliz (Angiolo), and Tranquila Señora (Fortify) dashed as if the finish line was halfway down the turn, while the winner struggled to match their torrid pace. Balmaceda kept her alert but conserved her energy, allowing Starry Bomb to settle and launch when the leaders began to tire.
The opening quarter was 22.89, followed by 45.31 to reach the stretch. Of the early speed, only Tranquila Señora held on briefly, but by then Balmaceda had found the middle of the track and let Starry Bomb roll.
From there, it was smooth sailing, with the Haras Firmamento-bred filly powering past the field to win by two lengths. Llamame a la Tarde (Presagio Key) rallied from behind to take second, a head in front of a spent Tranquila Señora. The favorite Mimosa Grey (Zensational) finished fourth, just a neck back, in 1:07.15.
Starry Bomb, now 8 starts with 3 wins, represents Stud Haras Altos de Godeken of Rosario and is the best progeny of Starry Miss (Southern Halo), a mare purchased by Juan C. Bagó in the liquidation of Haras La Quebrada. Starry Miss is a full sister to the outstanding Star Runner, a dual G1 winner, and G2 Star Prize.
Combining raw power, current form, and perfect timing, Starry Bomb earned what may well be her best victory to date.
