Confirmed: Labrado Aims for Revenge Against Le Cornette

Anticipation is building ahead of next Monday at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, where the unmissable Clásico Paraguay (G3 – 1000m, dirt) will be contested.

The rematch is set: three-time champion Labrado (Le Blues) will look to return to the winner’s circle and exact revenge on Le Cornette (Emmanuel), the rival who decisively beat him by four lengths in the Gran Premio Estrellas Sprint (G1) late last month.

For the Venadense star, the race also represents another milestone, as he captured the title in 2022, 2023, and 2024, now seeking a historic fourth consecutive triumph.

The event will also feature the first clash of the year between 3-year-olds and older horses, with confirmed entries including the promising juveniles Exclamación Pass (Distinctiv Passion) and Naranccello (Le Blues), who will receive six kilograms under the age-for-weight scale (60 vs. 54).

Joining them in the gate are the in-form Bailarín de Venecia (Angiolo), fresh off a commanding victory in the Clásico Diamond Jubilee, Cerrito Piñón (Manipulator), Land of Promise (Le Blues), and Oro Azteca (Empire Aztec).

The Paraguay carries a winner’s purse of 11,800,000 pesos and is scheduled as the tenth race on a 12-race card, with post time set for 6:30 p.m.

Palermo will also feature racing on Thursday, August 21, headlined by the Handicap Brilliantly (1400m, turf) for winning mares aged five and older. Of the 15 originally entered, 11 were confirmed: Ataka (Señor Candy, 59 ½ kg), Aiyanna (Santillano, 59), Friendly Miss (Japan, 54 ½), Garden House (So Easy, 51), Hi Chasty (Hi Happy, 55), Holy Valley (Homage, 54 ½), Joy Antumalal (Il Campione, 54), Look Happy (Hi Happy, 53 ½), Mi Negra Paula (Reflecting, 55), Nakayama (Señor Candy, 53 ½), and Olimpia de Epiro (Southern Cat, 51).
