Contra Pronóstico won't have it easy at all

The stakes doubleheader this Monday at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo will be completed by the Handicap Resuello, contested over 1,100 meters on the straight and open to horses 4 years old and up, likely with the added challenge of an altered track surface.

Six runners were confirmed, although it remains to be seen if El Romancero (Il Campione) will show up after finishing second to Camuflaje (Orpen) in the Handicap Kendal just the day before yesterday on the San Isidro turf. If he does compete, based on his recent form, he will certainly make his presence felt.

Carrying a demanding 61 1/2 kilos, Contra Pronóstico assumes the role of top weight, a figure that seems somewhat exaggerated. While he is coming off a third-place finish behind Labrado (Le Blues) in the Clásico General Viamonte(G3), his best previous effort was a third in the Handicap Ringaro, the day El Fortín (Il Campione)—the eventual Unzué (G1) winner—triumphed.

The son of Daddy Long Legs faces the much more experienced Filoso Class (Filoso Emperor, 59 1/2), winner of the Handicap Parlanchín, Handicap Sorteado, and the Clásico Eduardo Jara. Now nearing 9 years of age, he continues to fight, and there is no reason to believe he won't be right in the mix here.

After a forgettable stint on the San Isidro turf, Bizarrap (Forge, 51 1/2) returns to the Buenos Aires dirt carrying a dangerously light weight. The Heritage Stud runner is developing into a solid competitor, having finished a close second to Filoso Class in the Sorteado and fourth behind El Luciano (Il Campione) in the Clásico Aristophanes.

Spicy Vive (Santillano, 51) and Los Húsares (Le Blues, 51 1/2) complete the field.
