Copa de Oro, Acebal and Provincia de Buenos Aires: A Spectacular Weekend Lineup

All three races will headline Saturday’s card at the Hipódromo de San Isidro, to be run on the turf course

Everything is set for a superb racing day this coming Saturday at the Hipódromo de San Isidro, featuring three major turf contests: the Gran Premio Copa de Oro (G1 – 2400m, turf), the Gran Premio Enrique Acebal (G1 – 2000m, turf), and the Clásico Provincia de Buenos Aires (G2 – 2400m, turf). Adding even more international flair, the program will include live simulcasts from Del Mar, covering both the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) and the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) from California.

As the final major prep for the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1), the Copa de Oro will offer a total purse of $60,000,000 and drew eight starters, following the withdrawals of El Quetrihué (Il Campione) and Tata Eterno (Daniel Boone).

Returning to the track where he captured the Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1) in 2024, Acento Final (Treasure Beach) leads the lineup after a strong victory over Need You Tonight (Hat Ninja) in the Gran Premio General San Martín (G1) at Palermo. His chief rivals will include Capitán Kid (Daniel Boone)Vota Bien (Hi Happy)Time to Think (Seahenge)El Pulque (Heliostatic)Endor Rye (Endorsement)Ninguneando (Bodemeister), and Saphirus Blue (Daniel Boone).

Four fillies were withdrawn from the Acebal, the final leg of the filly turf series leading up to the Gran Premio Copa de Plata (G1), leaving 14 contenders set to go postward. The field features a mix of established names and rising talent, led by Cálida Sonrisa (Cosmic Trigger), heroine of the Gran Premio Selección (G1) at La Plata, and Great Fight (Equal Stripes), who has been consistently among the best of her generation.

Reserved for 3-year-old colts over 2400 meters, the Provincia de Buenos Aires will feature a compact but high-quality group of six: Neat Colt (Treasure Beach)Ardiendo (Remote)Hi Nud (Hi Happy)Señor Sandro (Cityscape)Unbroken (Seahenge), and Estoy Llamando (Il Campione).

With Group 1 class, emerging stars, and international connections, Saturday’s San Isidro program promises top-level turf racing from start to finish, setting the stage perfectly for the final stretch of Argentina’s spring season.
