Rain moved in and altered the entire Saturday program at Hipódromo de San Isidro, with the main turf course shifting from “normal” to “heavy” early in the afternoon—despite the delayed update on the official board—and even forcing some of the later races to be transferred to the dirt after the significant amount of water that fell.

With El Gazpacho (Bodemeister) and Dream Serena (Forge) standing out at stakes level by taking the Urbano de Iriondo (L) and Melgarejo (L), respectively, the main highlight among the condition races was the 3-year-old Cortocircuito, who scored the second victory of his brief career in the Don Latido, trying 2,000 meters for the first time.

The son of champion Strategos had returned from a troubled effort in the Gran Criterium (G1) with a solid third-place finish in a demanding mile, and now he showed interesting qualities, especially looking ahead.

With the classics now behind them, many 3-year-olds can begin to build their campaigns without the same pressure, aiming to become important names later on. Cortocircuito, representing Stud Chúcaros, followed that path with a notable performance.

With Cristian Velázquez aboard, the gray took the lead as soon as the gates opened and travelled comfortably throughout. In the stretch, the jockey waited as long as he could before asking him to run, which happened when Curious Song (Sixties Song) attempted to challenge.

Faced with that threat, Cortocircuito responded in the best way, drawing clear with authority to win by five lengths, stopping the clock in 2:09.81 after fractions of :26.78, :53.30, 1:18.63 and 1:46.80. Another 3 1/2 lengths back, Notting Hill (Nicholas) completed the trifecta in a field of only five starters. Luis A. Sánchez oversees his training.

The 3-year-olds had two additional races over 2,000 meters on turf, both for maidens. Among the males, Good Beat(Treasure Beach–Good Babe, by Southern Halo, Haras Abolengo) showed grit to earn his first win by a half-neck over Pelle Talentoso (Equal Talent). Among the fillies, things were much simpler for Icilia (Lizard Island–Iulia, by Mutakddim, Haras Tiveres), who defeated Coni Manner (Marconi) by 3 1/2 lengths.
