The Clásico Comparación (G2) promises another electrifying installment in the Campeonato Palermo de Oro Verdethis afternoon at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, with turf staying star Crazy Talent headlining the 2400-meter contest.

A proven force in the division, Crazy Talent returns as the defending champion, having captured this very race in 2024 when he outdueled none other than El Kodigo (Equal Stripes). The son of Equal Talent, owned by Stud Aladino, currently tops the standings in the series, thanks to a commanding victory in the Clásico Chacabuco (G2) just weeks ago.

That day, the Miguel Suárez trainee coasted to a five-length win over Saphirus Blue (Daniel Boone), who returns for a rematch. However, the dynamics will shift with today’s soft turf, a condition Crazy Talent has faced twice without finding the winner’s circle, though he did manage to finish in the frame both times.

Already a winner of the Gran Premio de Honor (G1) and runner-up in the Gran Premio República Argentina (G1)this season, Crazy Talent will once again be partnered by Juan Carlos Noriega, the jockey who knows him best and has guided many of his finest moments.

Saphirus Blue, runner-up in the Chacabuco, showed significant improvement in that outing and now must prove that effort was no fluke. Meanwhile, Ceniza Pampa (Hat Ninja) brings a compelling résumé of her own. The filly beat the girls in the Gran Premio Gilberto Lerena (G1) over this same course earlier in the year, and recently added the Clásico Criadores (G2) on dirt. She now aims to take down the boys in a bold attempt at history.

Others looking to make their mark include Oleguer (Equal Stripes), still searching for a breakthrough win despite having been runner-up in last year’s Gran Premio Nacional (G1) and Clásico Eduardo Casey (G2). His efforts this season in the República Argentina and Estrellas Classic have been below expectations, but a return to form is not out of reach.

Also in the lineup is Don Champagne (Long Island Sound), who returned from a lengthy layoff with a promising third in the Clásico Cocles (L) behind Equal Mostaza, and Special Dubai (E Dubai), a past winner of the Gran Premio General San Martín (G1) who would need to rediscover top form to contend here.

All eyes will be on Crazy Talent as he looks to solidify his leadership in the division—but a field rich in talent and ambition ensures nothing will come easy.
