The son of Strategos went wire-to-wire with ease to capture the Especial Velocistas Potrillos

LA PLATA.- Cádiz’s first visit to this city’s racetrack could not have ended better. In a remarkable performance, the grey colt won without any complications in the Especial Velocistas Potrillos (1000m, fast track), the race that opened Tuesday's stakes doubleheader, and now projects as a name to watch in the upcoming major short-distance fixtures for the new generation.

Coming off a runner-up effort against winners on the San Isidro dirt, the son of Strategos made it a one-way trip, taking the lead as soon as the gates opened, gradually increasing his advantage over his rivals, and cruising home comfortably in the straight.

At the wire, the Stud J.N.R. representative finished 5 lengths clear of the maiden Sunny Thunder (Dubai Thunder), who put in a solid effort, with favorite Bruno Pass (Distinctiv Passion) finishing another length back in third. Unafraid (Forge), another well-fancied contender, disappointed by finishing seventh. The final time for the race was a very sharp :59.62.

Saddled by Mauricio Bortulé and with Wilson Moreyra executing his job to perfection from the irons, Cádiz can now aim for graded stakes company, backed by the promise of bright future prospects.
