The Aga Khan colt earned a rating of 127 pounds, sharing second place with Field of Gold, Forever Young, and Sovereignty, while Ombudsman remains on top

LONDRES, Inglaterra (Special for Turf Diario).- The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1) not only crowned Europe’s new king but also reshuffled the global hierarchy. Thanks to his spectacular triumph at ParisLongchamp, Daryz earned a rating of 127 in the latest edition of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings 2025, positioning him as the world’s second-best horse, tied with other elite performers and just behind Ombudsman (Night of Thunder), the ranking leader.
The Sea the Stars colt displayed tremendous grit in one of the most thrilling editions of the Arc in recent years, narrowly defeating the sensational filly Minnie Hauk (Frankel) by just a half-length. Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Minnie Hauk had previously captured the Betfred Oaks (G1), Juddmonte Irish Oaks (G1), and Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks (G1), cementing her status as Europe’s top three-year-old filly with a rating of 123. Sosie (Sea the Stars) (120) completed the podium, finishing five and a half lengths behind the French titans.
Daryz’s triumph was no surprise. The Francis-Henri Graffard trainee had signaled his potential with a narrow second-place finish to Japan’s Croix du Nord (Kitasan Black) (120) in the Prix du Prince d’Orange (G3), following a midseason victory in the Prix Eugène Adam (G2). His upward trajectory reached its apex in the Arc, confirming a mature, versatile horse capable of a devastating late run.
As noted, Ombudsman remains atop the rankings with 128 points, one above Daryz, Field of Gold (Kingman), Forever Young (Real Steel), and Sovereignty (Into Mischief).
The monthly rankings also introduced other noteworthy names. Al Riffa (Wootton Bassett) (120), winner of the Comer Group International Irish St. Leger (G1) and Curragh Cup (G2), entered the top echelon following a consistently strong campaign. Likewise, Zeus Olympios (Night of Thunder) (120), unbeaten in four starts this year, rose to the same rating after impressive victories in the Joel Stakes (G2) and Superior Mile Stakes (G3).
With a rating of 127, Daryz establishes himself as one of the standout international stars of the season and a worthy heir to France’s rich tradition in the continent’s most prestigious race. His Longchamp victory not only brought glory but also secured him a place among the world’s elite.
