In a meeting of few highlights, Decan Dall rose to the occasion and emerged as the main figure, capturing the Handicap Equal Stripes (1200 m, normal dirt), confirming his positive current form and leaving behind a group of experienced rivals.

Those who argue that "the truth lies in the middle" when discussing handicap races were proven right with the son of champion Víctor Security, who found no major obstacles in defeating by 2 lengths the topweight and heavy favorite Rugiente (Il Campione), who carried a mountain of weight at 62 kilos.

Delivering a long rally in the straight, Decan Dall, trained by Jorge Prida, was only able to take the lead in the final furlong, as the brave and swift pacesetter El Determinado (Il Campione, 55 1/2) refused to surrender the top prize after setting very firm fractions of 23s 92/100 and 46s 99/100 on a track that has not been "flying" for some time now.

The patience and never-say-die attitude of jockey Franco Menéndez and Decan Dall made the victory possible at the finish, when the leader finally felt the effort. Rugiente, who always traveled closely, fought bravely in another display of his class, crossing the wire as the runner-up with a half-length and a neck over Approval Cat (Endorsement, 57 1/2) and El Determinado. The winning time was 1m 11s 25/100.

A shadow of his former self in his return was Forty Fain (Fortify, 61 1/2), finishing last by 21 3/4 lengths. He had been away from competition for a long time and carried a heavy weight; therefore, if he remains sound, he deserves another chance.

The card also included the Especial Angel O. Baratucci (1000 m, dirt) and the Especial Florindo Catapano (1400 m, dirt), for 3-year-olds and up from the interior of the country that were still maidens.

In the first of those events, reserved for fillies, Vivencia (Ejekutor) defeated Gran Pantera (Grand Reward) by just a half-length. Eduardo Ortega Pavón was aboard the representative of Stud El Gallinero, from Azul, who is trained by Leonardo Núñez.

Meanwhile, in the Catapano, glory went to the Córdoba native Le Chat Malévolo (Santillano), who, at a rewarding price of $25.80, bested his fellow provincial Catcher Man (Valid Stripes) by 1 1/2 lengths in 1m 26s 27/100. Owned by Stud El Doctor and with Sergio Carezzana in charge of his conditioning, he benefited from the handling of Marcelo Quinteros, a jockey of immense quality who shone here at the major tracks during his time as an apprentice.
