It’s a Sunday with unfriendly weather, but with good racing at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo. The 2-year-olds will be the main protagonists, featuring a pair of 1,500-meter maiden races and the Clásico Pedro E. y Manuel A. Crespo (G3-1,400m, dirt), a bridge toward the Gran Premio Montevideo (G1) and Gran Premio Jorge de Atucha (G1) on May 1st.

With 5 colts confirmed, the occasion looks perfect for Desert Voice to ratify all the good signs shown when winning on debut 29 days ago under the same circumstances he faces now. The son of Dabster, part of Juan Saldivia’s squad and owned by Al Adiyaat—the colors of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum—settled comfortably in that outing, giving signals that he will be better as the distances increase.

Stepping into the ring against him is The Great Terms (The Great Day), who abandons the safety provided so far by the San Isidro turf for the tough Buenos Aires dirt in a striking move, considering the Clásico Eliseo Ramírez (G2) is only a few days away. After a perfect debut, the representative of the Neuquén-based Stud Los Nonos took the Clásico Islas Malvinas quite easily, but now faces a landscape that is, on paper, more complicated.

Winners at La Plata, and both trained by Marcelo Sueldo, Los Llanos (Le Blues) and Full Lujoso (Full Mast) change venues to step up. The short field is completed by the maiden El Pecadito (Cima de Triomphe), and it remains to be seen how much gas he has in the tank...
