Deterministic will race through the end of the year and then retire to stud at Lane’s End

The outstanding son of Liam’s Map, a four-time G1 winner boasting a six-race winning streak, will join the Kentuckynursery—where his sire currently stands—at the conclusion of his racing career

VERSAILLES, Kentucky—While major racing chapters remain to be written on the track, the future for Deterministic is already set in stone. Lane’s End Farm announced that the outstanding son of Liam’s Map will stand stud at the conclusion of his racing career, joining one of the most prestigious stallion rosters in the United States and reuniting with his own sire.

Now 5, Deterministic is enjoying the form of his life. Racing for St. Elias Stable, Ken Langone, Steven Duncker, and Vicarage Stable, he boasts a six-race winning streak dating back to May 2025—all with jockey Kendrick Carmouche in the irons—and has compiled career earnings of $3,047,265.

His current dominance was on full display last Saturday at Saratoga, where he captured the Fourstardave Handicap(G1) for the second consecutive year, defeating Mi Bago (Vekoma) by 1 1/2 lengths over a mile in a rain-soaked 1m35s07/100.

With that victory, Deterministic achieved a historic milestone: becoming the first horse ever to win both the Manhattan Stakes (G1) and the Fourstardave in back-to-back seasons.

"The journey with Deterministic has been nothing short of extraordinary, and sharing it with the Clement family has meant the world to us," said Vinnie Viola of St. Elias Stable.

The storyline also carries deep sentimental value. Deterministic is by Liam’s Map, one of the finest runners to ever carry the St. Elias colors, winning the Woodward Stakes (G1) and the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) in 2015 before establishing himself as a premier stallion.

"To campaign a colt by one of our barn's founding stars, Liam’s Map—who was an exceptional racehorse and is now an outstanding sire—makes it feel like complete poetic justice that Deterministic will join him at Lane’s End," added Viola.

Versatility stands out as one of the primary selling points Deterministic will offer in his next career chapter.

Trained initially by the late Christophe Clement and currently by his son Miguel Clement, he won on debut on the dirt as a 2-year-old at Saratoga. Following a several-month layoff, he launched his 3-year-old campaign with a victory in the Gotham Stakes (G3), also over a dirt mile at Aqueduct.

After unplaced efforts in the Wood Memorial Stakes (G2) and the Peter Pan Stakes (G3), his connections made a pivotal decision: switching him to the turf.

The results were instant. He won the Virginia Derby (G3) at Colonial Downs and the Hill Prince Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct, offering a preview of what was to come.

In 2025, he firmly established himself among the division's elite. He scored by 4 1/2 lengths in the Fort Marcy Stakes(G2) before sweeping the Manhattan (G1) and the Fourstardave (G1). This season, he executed the exact same play: Fort Marcy, Manhattan, and Fourstardave. Six starts, six victories.

"Whenever a son of Liam’s Map reaches G1 level it catches our attention, especially one with the raw speed to win back-to-back G1 miles," explained Bill Farish of Lane’s End.

For Farish, the stallion prospect embodies the core attributes the farm strives to transmit: "He won on debut at 2, was a graded stakes winner on dirt, and developed into a multiple G1 winner on turf—including two editions of the Fourstardave, one of the premier grass miles in the country. All of that makes him a seamless fit for the versatile stallion roster we build at Lane’s End."

Bred in Kentucky by Hinkle Farms, Deterministic was purchased for $625,000 by Michael Wallace, bloodstock agent for St. Elias Stable, at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He is out of the winning Speightstownmare Giulio’s Jewel.

Lane’s End awaits his arrival for the upcoming breeding season. Before that transition, however, Deterministic still has business to settle on the racetrack.

He enters his remaining targets at the absolute peak of his game, riding a six-race streak as one of the top turf horses in the country. Afterwards, he will take his place alongside Liam’s Map in the stallion barn to begin his next chapter.
