The first went wire to wire and the latter came from off the pace to take both divisions of the Borobeta (1200m, turf)

It was a complicated holiday Monday at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, where significant delays arose due to betting-system failures—an issue that has been occurring with uncomfortable frequency.

So disruptive was the situation that, with no commingled wagering and Beturf offline for most of the day, total handle reached only 241,224,511 pesos, nearly half of what is typical.

On the track, the highlights came from the two divisions of the Handicap Borobeta (1200m, normal turf) for fillies and mares aged four and up, where Joy Traviesa (Fortify, 55kg) and Frape (Vástago Salvaje) earned the crowd’s applause.

The first of them, a homebred of Haras Santa Inés, took command of the small field from the break and never let anyone get to her, standing firm in the stretch against the challenge of A La Vista (Angiolo, 56.5kg), who ultimately settled for second 1 1/2 lengths behind. Another 3/4 length back, Look Happy (Hi Happy, 56kg) completed the trifecta.

Out of Tetera Rye (Catcher In the Rye), trained by Nicolás Martín Ferro and ridden by Martín Valle, Joy Traviesa stopped the clock in 1:09.36 (splits of :24.23 and :46.94), slightly faster than the 1:09.85 recorded by Frape in the second division.

A wagering outsider, the daughter of Vástago Salvaje and Follonica (Zensational) employed the opposite tactic. She trailed early and saved her best for the stretch, launching a sustained outside rally.

The María F. Alvarez–Wálter Suárez trainee stormed past the pacesetter Legítima Blan (Equal Legítimo, 55.5kg)—who had set splits of :24.37 and :47.10—to win by 1 1/2 lengths, with Emalvi (Orpen, 55kg) in third.

Kevin Banegas executed the plan perfectly aboard Frape, bred by Haras La Pasión and racing for Caballeriza P.S.G. El Galpón.
