The San Benito runner crushed El Gazpacho by five lengths, extending his terrific form with no ceiling in sight

The apparent parity in the Handicap Parwiz (1400m, dirt)—the main event of yet another uneventful Wednesday at San Isidro—was swiftly erased by the sheer dominance of Don Rocky, who, like THE legendary boxer, knocked out his rivals in style.
The son of Equal Stripes continues to make significant strides, maturing into his best form and reaching a level where putting a ceiling on his talent seems impossible.
Once a horse that lost more than he won, Don Rocky has transformed into a model of efficiency over the last few months, securing four victories in his last six starts. His two most recent wins came at the stakes level, as he had previously captured the Especial Haras El Paraíso at La Plata in late November.
Third by a length behind El Gazpacho (Bodemeister) in the Handicap Whipper In, the San Benito homebred turned the tables in a big way, defeating that same rival by five lengths this time. He relished the loose dirt track and stopped the clock in a sharp 1:21.70.
With Iván Monasterolo in the irons and carrying 56.5 kilos, Don Rocky tracked early leaders Hacer Un Puente(Cosmic Trigger, 56.5 kg) and Dom Mario (Midshipman, 58.5 kg), took command at the top of the stretch, and powered away with authority.
El Gazpacho rallied from farther back to secure second place, while Dr. Can (Señor Candy, 58 kg) returned from a layoff of more than a year with an excellent third-place finish, three lengths behind. Heavy favorite My Stormy Dark (In the Dark, 59 kg) finished last in a puzzling performance.
Trained by Carlos D. Etchechoury, Don Rocky is out of Joy Rosetta (Fortify), a G2-placed mare and full sister to stakes winner Rohit Joy and G1-placed Joy Rose. He hails from the El Candil family developed by La Biznaga, which produced top sprinters Forty Rosarino (Roar) and Fine Toss (Egg Toss).
