With the defections of Phanton (Outstrip) and Malevo Song (Sixties Song), a final field of 13 will line up for the Gran Premio Dos Mil Guineas (G1-1600m, turf, ARS$50,000,000 purse), the first major clash of the second semester on the San Isidro grass, set for next Saturday.

The race will see Ardiendo (Remote), winner of the Gran Premio Gran Criterium (G1), attempt to reaffirm his status as the leader of the division at the Jockey Club Argentino’s venue, though victory is far from guaranteed.

The Stud San Isidoro representative will face Es Por Amor (Strategos) once again; runner-up in the Criterium, he later broke his maiden comfortably over 1400 metres.

Another stakes winner entered is Bolero Frank (Gidu), who captured the Clásico Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera (G3) at La Plata before finishing fourth in the Pedro Goenaga (G2), a race in which Piñazo (John F. Kennedy) also featured when third, and he too will line up here.

Full Keynote (Full Mast) will look to rebound from two fourth-place efforts in the Chevalier (G2) and the Gran Criterium. The Haras Gran Muñeca runner previously secured the Clásico Antártida Argentina (L).

Forgging (Forge), a dual winner over shorter trips, and Cortocircuito (Strategos), who broke his maiden at this track and trip, are also confirmed, as are Hi Mohmix (Hi Happy), a debut winner over 1400 metres; Have Fun (Fortify) and The Great Racing (The Great Day), both winners at a mile – the latter by open lengths.

Two colts sharing both origin and precocity are The Great Wells (The Great Day) and Uncle Moi (Uncle Mo), both participants in the Clásico Zubiaurre (1500m). The former won it on debut before finishing fifth in the G1, while the latter was runner-up there before scoring his maiden win over the mile.

Real Rim (Remote), a winner over 1200 metres who then finished second in the Chevalier before disappointing in the Gran Criterium, completes the lineup. He and Uncle Moi will carry the silks of Firmamento.

With ARS$25,000,000 to the winner, the Gran Premio Dos Mil Guineas will not only officially launch the three-year-old season in San Isidro’s stakes calendar, but also further shape the divisional rankings.

Saturday’s card at San Isidro will also feature two additional stakes. Among fillies, the Bayakoa (L-1400m, turf, around the bend) will be run, while older mares will contest the Eudoro J. Balsa (G3) over a mile on the grass.

The Bayakoa, paying tribute to the unforgettable mare bred by Haras Principal, attracted entries including Catys Queen(Lizard Island), Day Light (Hurricane Cat), Fantasía Loca (Winning Prize), Finikas (Angiolo), Intrusión(Gouverneur Morris), Invocación (Treasure Beach), La Banda (Fortify), Mi Confesión (Suggestive Boy), Mi Gran Chica (Seahenge), Miss Kalima (Seahenge), Moon Frank (Gidu), Orphila (Daniel Boone), the Brazilian-bred Party Girl (Outstrip), Plaza Athenee (Il Campione), and Souq (Forge).

Meanwhile, the 10 probables for the Eudoro J. Balsa are: Candlelit (Equal Stripes), Doña Enigma (Fortify), Dream Serena (Forge), Elvitas (Cosmic Trigger), Fiesta Porteña (Fortify), unbeaten Gigantografía (Bodemeister), Guiltless(Full Mast), Same Treasure (Treasure Beach), South Briole (South Kissing), and Viva Al Sur (South Kissing).

Final declarations for these two stakes, along with the rest of the card, will be taken until midday Tuesday.
